    1982 210N fully tricked out glass avionics refit, IFR, looks like an interior refresh, original fading paint but in decent shape, 967 HSMOH, 2960 TT. Wait for it.....$440 grand with a hundred bucks change back. There's a 1978 NM Turbo model I'd opt for though - despite higher TT hours (but only 220 HSMOH) - has very substantial avionics refit and a 2014 ext paint and interior refresh that all looks great - $325,000 - that sounds like a serious seller and a better value.

    Agreed - the Cherokee is the Camry of general aviation.

  • @Franklin-pc3xd
    @Franklin-pc3xd 2 дні тому

    Great analysis. Current Navajo owners should welcome any buyer who will take one off their hands for even pennies on the dollar. Otherwise, they will sit there and generate that forty grand a year in fixed cost as paper weights. The $420 hourly cost estimate could be light on the reserve side - it maybe covers the engine overhauls but what about all the other equipment overhauls and replacements....from landing gear to avionics? A variable run cost of about $500 is probably more realistic. Let's see what he says about the cost of a Seneca.

    Why build a new plane that is a tail dragger its old design 🤷‍♂️🙆‍♂️😳

    • @CompleteWalkaround
      @CompleteWalkaround 3 дні тому

      Because tailwheels are lighter and faster and more fun to fly then their tricycle gear counterparts. They are better suited for unimproved runways and in the case of kit planes, cost less to buy. And of course, you'd be lying to yourself if you thought they're not cooler.

    I still say I'd rather do the avionics install in your Winter than the Texas summer. I can wear insulated coveralls in the Winter, but crawling around in a tail cone when it's 100+ ambient? I dunno, maybe we can say they're both "the suck" I guess.

      Ya I don't know if I'd even say the cold was that bad. Tiny wires with gloves doesn't work well and the extra clothes didn't help the tight spaces. Otherwise it wasn't too bad. The lack of ppl stopping by was good for productivity.

    Could you do a modern piper seminole? These 6 seater twins are a little too costly for me to operate. I still prefer the redundancy of a twin and the peace-of-mind of a newer aircraft. The seminole seems like a piper arrow, but with 2 weaker engines instead of 1 stronger one. I'd prefer the redundancy of 2 engines over water. Not able to decide if the seminole is the right aircraft to buy since its primarily a trainer, and there isnt many videos on it having private owners. I have 2 main questions - Whats its operating cost? Hows its single engine preformance? (Can you successfully return to an airport with a failed engine over water?)

    • @CompleteWalkaround
      @CompleteWalkaround 18 днів тому

      I pad stuff has come a long way. No question. Especially when paired with something that gives it pitot static like the lvel Bom. No matter what you do though, iPads a gimic at best. I wouldnt go beyond day vfr with an iPad as a primary source of anything beyond a chart. (Even then 2 iPads are required to be legal as a chart.) So, if you're talking day vfr doesn't really matter what you have. Anything beyond a couple of steam gauges is superfluous.

    I fly two RV-8s, one with a basic small Dynon D10 and steam gauges, and one with Dynon Skyview HDX, synthetic vision, autopilot, etc. They are both VFR only because I’m in the UK and IFR approval for a homebuilt is super hard to get. I fly a lot of aeros, formation, and mock combat in both, and the one with the steam gauges is easier to fly because the instrumentation is easier to read at a glance. I would choose the one with the Skyview HDX for any IFR flying in a heartbeat though.
